A special commission will start working to determine the reasons for the fire and the damage. The Tbilisi City Hall has released a statement regarding the incident, saying that the allegations that fire-crews had gone out to the spot late or had no water were not true.

Tbilisi City Hall calls on everyone to refrain from "the accusations and slanderous statements"until the conclusion of expertise and not to use the situation for political purposes.

The statement also says that according to the Revenue Service, traders will be exempt from additional tax liabilities for damaged goods.

As Vice Mayor, Lasha Abashidze said, the decision on the assistance of the victims would be be made after the counting of losses.

"I can not talk about specific figures, but of course we will stand by them. There have not been any specific desicions by now; I want to tell these people that we will stand by them, "- said Lasha Abashidze.
