The court will re-examine the cases of Bakhva Sturua and Beka Petriashvili, as well as of former law enforcement officer Vasil Kvernadze, recognized as political prisoners. The decision was received by the relevant department of the Prosecutor`s Office. The Prosecutor"s Office states that the conviction sentence against them is illegal and the evidence obtained by the investigative actions indicates the innocence of the convicts.

"At this stage we have adopted resolutions on violations of their rights, which is the basis for appealing to the Court of Appeal. We will wait for the court decision and according to the decision of the Tbilisi Court of Appeal, we will take appropriate legal action, "- said Koka Katsitadze, the deputy head of the Investigation Department of the Criminal Prosecution Service.

According to the investigation, they were members of the then opposition and were released from prison in 2013 as political prisoners.
