Fire in Ateni Gorge is extinguished. The Ministry of Defense of Georgia disseminates information.

The fire broke out yesterday afternoon in the forest near Zemo Boshuri. Its extinguishing was difficult due to the terrain and strong wind, though the localization was timely managed, the fire spread over two hectares.

50 firefighters and special equipment were mobilized during the whole night in the disaster zone.

Besides rescue services, volunteers were also on the spot. The fire was only one kilometer away from the houses, which threatened the local population, but their evacuation was not needed.

Investigation has already begun on the fact of the negligence leading to damage or destruction.
