Initiative of the establishment of the Ombudsman`s Institute and the factual refusal of the OSCE to the Prime Minister of Georgia - media experts assess the letter received from the international organization in the administration of Giorgi Kvirikashvili.

The document says that the initiative is related to the current courtroom dispute around Rustavi 2 and the situation in the Public Broadcaster.

The international organization believes that the existence of a similar institution should be resolved by consensus.

Almost three weeks have passed since the receipt of the letter, but it is still unknown whether the government intends to discuss the issue. There was no official comment on the letter received from the OSCE.

"The OSCE says that all major players do not see this need and without internal consensus, no matter how good the media ombudsman`s idea is, it is irrelevant in this situation. This is their vision and therefore the authorities should draw conclusions because the function of the media ombudsman at the moment was carried out by the European Court which supported freedom of expression in Georgia, "- said Tamar Kintsurashvili, executive director of media development fund.
