The charges of torture and inhuman treatment are made against police officers. Three times convicted prisoner, who was sentenced to nine years by the last verdict, accused 15 policemen of brutal treatment.

Law enforcers tortured 29-year-old Dachi Feldman at Saburtalo cemetery late last night and beat him severely. The detainee`s father says that his son was detained at his house , handcuffed and taken to the cemetery instead of preliminary detention isolator. According to the family, the detainee was beaten and has injuries on his face, his legs and his head. Besides physical assault, he was also verbally abused.

Besides beating, his lawyers talk about the inhuman and degrading treatment from the policemen. They say that the detainee, who was handcuffed by law enforcers, was stripped and photos were taken. As a reason of Feldman`s beating, the lawyers name his refusal to give a testimony.

Law enforcers took the detainee from the cemetery to the preliminary detention isolator. The fact that Feldman had multiple injuries when he was broughy to the department, is confirmed by a certificate issued by the prison doctor. The family also conducted an alternative expert examination, which confirmed that the detainee had been beaten by a blunt object.

The prosecutor`s office started investigation into the behaviour of policemen in December. A beaten prisoner was also questioned by investigators The lawyers blame Shotadze`s office for artificially prolonging the investigation, demanding that the police be punished.

Dachi Feldman was found guilty for illegal possession of arms and assault of policemen and was sentenced to 9 years of imprisonment.
