The Chief Prosecutor`s Office made the first comment on the scandalous testimony given by Soso Okhanashvili, former head of Patriarch`s Security Service. The testimony of Okhanashvili was about the fact that the persons accused of terrorism were hidden in the Patriarch`s residence .
"In 2014, Turkish citizens officially crossed the Georgian state border and legally lived on the territory of the country. In addition, during the period of staying in Georgia, there was no offense from theses persons residing in Georgia or those who were in contact with them. Consequently, the investigation was not initiated by the respective authorities in connection with a possible offense. Based on the request of the competent authorities of the Republic of Turkey, as these persons were sought for membership in the armed terrorist organization, the relevant authorities of Georgia detained them in 2016 and made relevant legal responses. In particular, as a result of implementation of the procedures provided by the legislation of Georgia, one person has been extradited to the Republic of Turkey and the other person is still
under extradition procedures, "- said Giorgi Grdzelishvili, deputy head of the public and mass media relations department of the Prosecutor General`s Office.
