Giorgi Margvelashvili`s working meeting with parliamentary and non-parliamentary opposition is over. After the meeting, the representatives of the opposition parties said they have come to a joint position with the country`s first person, which will e presented by the President`s representative tomorrow at the Venice Commission. However, the opposition parties do not specify what the position is.
"As to the position, let`s wait for tomorrow and i will be voiced at the Venice Commission session. On the other hand, European Georgia remains in its position that it is important for us to move to proportional electoral system in 2020, "- said Levan Tarkhnishvili, member of" European Georgia ".
Members of the opposition parties once again noted that the existing edition of the draft constitution is a crisis document that is tailored to the interests of only one party.
"The country is deadlocked, the constitution is unbalanced, this is a crisis document," -said Nika Rurua, a member of the National Movement.
According to the party representatives, the position of the president and opposition parties is still unchanged regarding the main provisions.
The President of Georgia met with the ruling team yesterday. "Georgian Dream" offered the country`s first person the points of constitutional amendments that will be replaced by the President"s veto. It is about lowering the threshold and allowing the electoral blocks.
If the President sends motivated remarks in this way, the parliamentary majority will take into consideration the President`s remarks and will not try to overcome the veto.
