The opposition supports the president`s decision on veto. As Salome Samadashvili, member of the "National Movement", states Giorgi Margvelashvili took a correct decision.
"The President of Georgia behaved correctly when he literally forced the" Georgian Dream "to remain alone with this constitution. That the constitution remains as one party document in case they will overcome the president`s veto, "said Salome Samadashvili, the deputy chairperson of the faction" National Movement "in the Parliament.
Aacording to the "European Georgia", the presidential veto expresses full consensus of the entire opposition spectrum and civil society of Georgia.
"Free Democrats" share colleagues" opinion and say that the president has presented an excellent sample of how to stick to the principle.
Who will sign the Constitution- the President or the Chairperson of the Parliament after overcoming the veto - Chairman of the "European Democrats of Georgia" Paata Davitaia thinks that if the developments continue as of now, the President should not sign the document.
We remind you that the President of Georgia vetoed six articles of the draft constitution:
1. The bonus system - ie the principle that the winning party gets all undistributed mandates.

3. The Constitutional Court - The President believes that the decision to recognize the results of the election as constitutionally should not be taken by all the members of the Constitutional Court, but the majority.
4. Freedom of Confession - The President offers the Parliament a higher standard for protection of faith and belief than it is in the draft adopted in three hearings.
5. Cancellation of the majoritarian system from 2024 - Giorgi Margvelashvili believes that the transition to the proportional system should take place from 2020.
6. The rule of election of the President - The President also offers to maintain direct presidential elections and to decide on the matter only after the country moves to a two-chamber Parliament, that is when the country will restore its territorial integrity as envisaged in the constitution.
