Self-government, General Administrative Code and City Council Regulations were violated by closingCity Council session - NGOs

The civil sector responds to the events that took place yesterday at Tbilisi City Council session. NGO representatives talk about the gross violation of the law.

NGOs claim that the chairperson of the City Council did not have the right to make decision on the closure of the session .

According to them, it was unacceptable to to restrict the right to attend the City Council sitting, especially for lawmakers.

The civil sector accuses the Chairman of the City Council in violation of the Self-Government and Administrative Code and hopes that the case will be moved to court.

"The decision of the collegial body must be in connection with the closure of the City Council session. Chairman of the Council alone can not make decisions regarding the closing of the session, so this decision is contrary to the regulations of the Council and the General Administrative Code, "- said the CEO " International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy ",Mikhail Benidze.
