The ruling party is responding to the appeal of the parliamentary opposition. It is about the statement made by opposition representatives regarding the Public Defender"s post. The opposition MPs have called on the NGOs to nominate their candidacy for the post of the Public Defender.

"Georgian Dream" says that there is no precedent regarding the norm and competence of the NGOs for nominating a candidate for the Public Defender.

"This is the case of the Parliament of Georgia. The Parliament of Georgia will plan this process after the elections and we will have a very good dignified public defender, "- said Mamuka Mdinaradze, the chairman of the" Georgian Dream" faction.

Ucha Nanuashvili`s 4-year term on the position of Public Defender is due to end in December. His successor should be nominated until the end of November.
