Georgian citizens will elect 2058 members for 64 councils today. In Tbilisi and regions the country will have 64 elected mayors, but the 21 October local elections are the first in recent years, when the population will no longer elect its governor.

Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Poti, Rustavi and Batumi participate in the elections as self-governing cities There are 13 candidates in total in Tbilisi. To retain this post, the candidate must overcome the barrier of 50 percent. If none of the mayoral candidatesare able to collect the required number of votes, in this case the second round of the elections is held which is not related to the party results. The winner is the candidate who receives more votes.

Mayors of the city or municipality, as well as Sakrebulos will be elected for 4 years.
