"230 citizens were denied to enter the Schengen zone" - Janos Herman summed up six months of visa free travel

EU Ambassador to Georgia has summed up 6 months of the visa free travel to Europe. Janos Herman believes that the data is positive and the Government of Georgia is closely watching the process. A total of 90 thousand Georgian citizens traveled to the European Union within six months, but only 230 people were denied the entry of the Schengen Area.

"We can conclude that the introduction of visa free travel for Georgia was a great success. According to the 6-month data, about 90,000 citizens took advantage of visa-free travel in the EU. The Government has conducted an effective information campaign and has been able to inform citizens on travel conditions of visa-free regime. As a result, only 230 citizenswere denied the entry of the Schengen zone. The demand for asylum is a very critical criterion , but there is no significant increase so , it is necessary to keep this trend, "said Janos Herman.
