The Ministry of Internal Affairs has not responded to the facts of violence against policemen in Gamrekeli Street last night. The "Courier" video footage shows that the secluded monk Nickoloz, hits patrol policemen twice in the face, although this is not the only fact of violence against law enforcers.
At night, the monk Nicholas` parish physically assaulted other patrol police officers. Investigation has not yet begun on the fact of assault of police officers. The agency only explains that the fact study-assessment procedures are in progress.
The followers of the secluded monk speak about the provocation by the police. The parish recalls that the law enforcers started to provoke violence on Gamrekeli Street yesterday, illegally blocked the entrance of the house where monk Nicholas lived.
Believers say that the police were performing one of the bishops" orders yesterday, who first ousted the monk from the church and now wanted to destroy him physically.
Because of the assault on Patrol Police officers by the monk, the urgent need for investigation is requested by the NGO sector.
The confrontation started between the law enforcers and the police on Gamrekeli Street, after wthe owner of the apartment rented by the monk demanded from him to leave the house and shut the door to the cleric. The parish came to the site to help the monk. The incident turned into physical confrontation.
The clergyman was finally moved out of the house, and now he lives in the apartment of one of his spiritual children in Barnov Street.
