Three billion 147 million GEL - IDFI estimates annual bureaucratic expenditure

 

Three billion 147 million GEL - this is the amount that Georgian citizens spend on bureaucratic costs every year. The data was studied by the Institute for Development of Information and Freedom.

According to the study, if the bureaucratic apparatus in 2012 would cost the country 2 billion 500 million GEL, by the end of 2016 the amount increased by 647 million. By now, the taxpayers have to pay 3 billion 147 million GEL for keeping high-ranking officials employed at the central and local level.

According to IDFI, there are also three expenses on the business tips have increased as well. In 2012 the amount of money spent on business trips was 53 million, while now it is 68 million GEL.

However, there are positive trends, according to IDFI data from 2012 to 2016, the cost on transportation or fuel costs have been reduced from 160 million to 119 million GEL.

The non-governmental organization states that it is necessary to develop a strategy that will bring bureaucratic costs to a logical point.
