Marika Lortkipanidze, the academician died at the age of 95. She graduated from the Faculty of History of Tbilisi State University in 1943. Since 1948 she continued scientific activities at Tbilisi State University. In 1963 she became Doctor of Historical Sciences.

Marika Lortkipanidze has published 100 scientific works, including 10 books. In 1988 she was awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of Tbilisi.
