The Public Defender met with representatives of NGOs today and listened to their opinion on the ongoing issues. The main part of the discussion was about the state of human rights and preparation of the ombudsman"s parliamentary report.

"The emphasis was made on the parliamentary account, which should be presented to the Parliament in a new format in March. First of all, I have heard from the non-governmental organizations those questions and issues that they are worried about and that should be to reflected in the parliamentary report and other special reports.Tthey want to make the Public Defender more active and cooperate with the office, "said Nino Lomjaria.

According to Eka Gigauri, executive director of the NGO "Transparency International - Georgia", it is important that the Public Defender"s Office pay attention to the ongoing processes in the court.
