A fatal explosion in a railway tunnel under construction - eyewitnesses said the explosion was heard twice on the spot. Workers were informed of the first explosion, after which the specialists working on one side of the tunnel returned to their jobs and continued digging.

Soon afterwards, the explosion occurred on the other side of the tunnel and three workers were injured. They were taken to Khashuri hospital with multiple fractures and head injuries.

One employee on the construction, Vitaly Shubitidze, noted that they have repeatedly stated about the existing security issues, but in vain.
