"The United States continues strong support of Georgia" both in improving defense capabilities, as well as the European and Euro-Atlantic integration process,"- Defense Secretary James Matis said at the meeting with Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili.

The leaders met each other within the Munich Security Conference.

During the talks, the security issues of the region, the aggressive actions of Russia in the occupied regions of Georgia and ongoing reforms in the defense sphere were discussed.

According to Georgia"s Defense Minister, it was emphasized at the meeting that Georgia is the most trusted partner of the US.

The meeting also touched upon NATO Summit and Georgia"s European integration.

The Georgian Foreign Minister, Mikheil Janelidze, also said that the current situation on the occupied territories will be discussed.
