The Supreme Court of Georgia passed a decision on extradition of the Russian businessman, Anton against Agafonov. Execution of the extradition process will start after Tea Tsulukiani"s signature.
Agafonov asserts that he will be tortured in Russia. Russian citizen blames FSB in his persecution.
Anton Agafonov has been living in Georgia since 2012 but law enforcers arrested him nine months ago on the request of Russia. The businessman says that in his case the Russian general has been identified as his business partner and he was forced to leave the country due to this pressure, and now he may be facing revenge of the Russian special services if he is extradited.
"Now in Russia there is a totalitarian system that is fully adjusted to the authorities and people have no rights there. Of course, if my extradition is going to happen, inappropriate action will be taken against me. I ask the State of Georgia to defend me, "said Anton Agafonov.
Agafonov`s lawyers are planning to challenge the decision of the Supreme Court in the European Court of Justice.
According to the prosecutor, if the agency was convinced that a businessman would be threatened after extradition in Russia, then the Prosecutor"s Office would make another decision
