We have some objections and in order to resolve these problems we will continue to cooperate in the process of selection of judges - Rudd

US Acting Ambassador to Georgia Elizabeth Rudd spoke about the progress of the judiciary in Georgia.

She noted that despite the progress, there were some remarks and United States would continue to work with the Georgian government.

“We believe that an independent judicial system is a cornerstone of democracy that is why the US Government has made more than 30 million dollars of investment and cooperated with the parliament and the Government, for creating more powerful and professional judicial system. During this period, we have seen progress, including judges who are more professional, jury court system, the management of the implementation of the system and generally, better experience of citizens with the relationship of court. I would also like to mention the decision on the fourth wave of the judicial system, which we see as a step forward and a good opportunity for cooperate.

Of course, progress is still to be achieved, in order to create the system, which will enjoy the confidence of each citizen, the US will continue to cooperate with, and support Georgia in this issue, the Parliament has developed a multi-stage selection process. We have had some objections and in order to resolve these problems we will continue to cooperate with Georgia in the process of selection of future judges”, - said Rudd.
