We are starting to develop tourism from the regions and not from Tbilisi. Such a statement made today the Prime Minister of Georgia.
Giorgi Gakharia talked about this issues during the meeting with representatives of the tourism sector in Kakheti.
“The virus was primarily about health, but the economy should not be forgotten. We are trying to do everything possible to ensure that human health is the number one priority in the fight against the virus.
It is a matter of pride to say this in Kakheti, because everything is going perfectly here in terms of health, but we should not forget the economy.
It’s hard to see empty Kakheti in such weather, in such season. Therefore, we must do everything possible to slowly, very carefully, in accordance with all the rules, activate the economy, and, first of all, it concerns tourism.
In recent years a great competence in the field of hospitality in Kakheti has been accumulated, new hotels have been built which need customers.
We are starting to develop tourism from the regions and not from Tbilisi. The risks in Tbilisi are different and much more difficult. The region is much more easier. First of all, we have to be clean, safe, green from COVID, and after that we can talk about everything”, - said the Head of the Government.
