Lawyers of the detainees on the Davit Gareji case to appeal the detention of their clients.

Iveri Melashvili and Natalia Ilychova, who stand accused of acts committed against the territories of Georgia, have been sent to pre-trial detention custody.

Melashvili, the Head of the Border Relations Service of the Department of Neighboring States of the MFA of Georgia, and Ilychova, Chief Inspector of the Border Protection Department of the MIA were detained two days ago.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, they were guided in the delimitation process by the boundary lines drawn on maps issued in 1970-80, which is essentially contrary to the historical border of Georgia, including in relation to Davit Gareji.
