The officers of Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Police Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of intensive operative-search and investigative activities detained previously convicted persons: G.M. (DoB 1984) and S.J. (DoB 1966).

G.M. is accused of theft committed by group in large quantities while S.J. is accused of theft committed by group in large quantities as well as illegal purchase-keeping of drugs in especially large quantities.

The investigation established that on September 19 of the current year, the mentioned persons entered the storage room of one of the branches of “Miso Intel Express” through the basement of the residential building located on Ilia Chavchavadze Avenue in Kutaisi, where they illegally appropriated gold and cash by cutting the metal storage door.

As a result of intensive operative-search and investigative activities law enforcers detained G.M. in Akhalsofeli village, Khelvachauri municipality, while S.J. was taken under arrest on Konstantine Gamsakhurdia Street, Kutaisi.

As a result of the personal search of G.M. and his place of residence held on the bases of the Court decision, police seized part of the stolen cash and jewelry.

As a result of the personal search and search activities held on the basis of the Court decision, law enforcers seized 2 packages of “heroin” drug weighing 3,231 gr. part of stolen cash and jewelry as evidence from S. J’s place of residence as well as special tools applied during the theft.

Investigation against G.M.is in progress on the fact of theft committed in large quantities in group with a previous intent by illegal entering premises or any other storage facility, article 177 II part, sub-paragraph “B”, part III sub-paragraph “A”, part IV sub-paragraph “B” of the Criminal Code of Georgia. Committed crime envisages from 3 to 10 years of imprisonment.

Investigation against S.J. is in progress on the fact of theft committed in large quantities in group with a previous intent by illegal entering premises or any other storage facility as well as on the fact of illegal purchase-keeping of drugs in especially large quantities - article 177 II part, sub-paragraph “B”, part III sub-paragraph “A”, part IV sub-paragraph “B” and article 260, VI part, sub-paragraph “A” of the Criminal Code of Georgia. Committed crime envisages from 3 to 20 years or lifetime imprisonment.
