If a female MP goes out and calls a male MP “little man”, isn’t this gender-motivated rudeness? Do you remember an apology from Teona Akubardia towards any male MP? – Kobakhidze

If a female MP goes out and calls a male MP “little man”, isn’t this gender-motivated rudeness? Do you remember an apology from Teona Akubardia towards any male MP? Such a statement made today the Chairman of the Georgian Dream, while commenting the conflict between MPs Teona Akubardia and Irakli Beraia.

“When these people, including particular female MPs, talk about politeness and such high matters, they have no moral right to do so. If anyone gets politeness wrong the Parliament, it is the opposition female MPs. They are constantly distinguished by violating the norms of politeness, unethical behavior. They have no moral right to talk about someone’s resignation.

First of all, they should look at their own politeness and ethics, where they have serious problems and shortcomings. If a female MP goes out and calls a male MP “little man”, isn’t this gender-motivated rudeness? Do you remember an apology from Teona Akubardia towards any male MP? Where is gender, politeness, ethics here? Therefore, double standards are not accepted. We have a single standard - where there is a wrong statement, we don’t have a problem there, and Irakli Beraia didn’t have a problem expressing his regret either.

We did not even hear “sorry” from these particular MPs when they were being rude, violating the standards of ethics. It was not difficult for Irakli Beraia, because he is a decent person. How can a female MP behave the way they do?!

They discredit, among other things, the gender quotas that we introduced. If anyone in this Parliament is artificially creating polarization, it is the opposition female MPs. I want to call on them to respect their parliamentary status”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
