In January-October 2023 the external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to USD 17 785.4 million, 16.2% higher to the same period of 2022. The exports equaled USD 5 102.3 million (12.5% higher), while the imports stood at USD 12 683.1 million (17.8% higher). The negative trade balance was USD 7 580.9 million in January-October 2023 and its share in external trade turnover constituted 42.6%, reads the report of GeoStat.

In January-October 2023 the share of the top-10 trading partners by exports in the total exports of Georgia amounted to 80.5%. The top partners were Azerbaijan (USD 713.5 million), Armenia (USD 657.5 million) and Kazakhstan (USD 579.9 million).

In January-October 2023 the share of the top ten trading partners by imports in the total imports of Georgia amounted to 70.8%. The top partners were Türkiye (USD 2 103.9 million), USA (USD 1 591.1 million) and Russia (USD 1 481.2 million)

In January-October 2023 the share of the top ten trading partners in the total external trade turnover of Georgia amounted to 68.8%. The top trading partners were Türkiye (USD 2 462.8 million), Russia (USD 2 040.2 million) and USA (USD 1 665.6 million).

In January-October 2023 motor cars claimed the first place in the list of top export items, equaling USD 1 762.0 million with 34.5% of total exports. The exports of copper ores and concentrates totaled USD 450.9 million and their share in the total exports amounted to 8.8%. The exports of wine of fresh grapes occupied the third place standing at USD 217.3 million and constituting 4.3% of the total exports.

The top import commodities in January-October 2023 were motor cars, whose imports equaled USD 2 589.8 million (20.4% of the total imports). The petroleum and petroleum oils followed in the list with USD 928.6 million (7.3% of imports). The medicaments put up in measured doses were third in the top import commodity list with USD 445.2 million (3.5% of imports).
