The Special Investigation Service of Georgia detained an employee of the Special Penitentiary Service on charges of domestic violence.

According to the agency, its investigation had established the offender had physically assaulted and injured his wife during an argument at their residential house in Rustavi.

The perpetrator was arrested and charged following “urgent investigative actions”.

The investigation is still ongoing, with the crime punishable by up to 3 years of imprisonment.
