Facebook, Instagram and Messenger suffer major outage

Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and Threads are currently down in Ireland. The outage appears to be an international one with reports of the services being down in multiple countries

Some users are experiencing issues logging in to their Meta Quest headsets, too. Facebook is logging users out of their accounts, leaving them unable to get back in. Meanwhile, over on Instagram, some users, including several of us at The Verge, can’t refresh their feeds.

56% of DownDetector users say that the website works with interruptions, 24% write that the application does not work, and 20% say that they cannot access Facebook at all.

Similar problems are observed on Instagram. 62% of users cannot use the application, 26% cannot “scroll”, and 12% have problems entering the application.

Meta has yet to make a statement. A similar Meta outage took place in 2021 when a configuration issue brought down access to Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp for several hours.
