According to the National Forest Agency`s [NFA] 2025 action plan, fieldwork for forest inventory is taking place on an area of up to 29,000 hectares in the Gurjaani Municipality. After the completion of the work, a forest management plan will be developed for the next ten years, which will serve as the basis for properly and efficiently managing forest operations.

Head of the NFA, Kakha Tsertsvadze, reviewed the progress of the inventory work on-site. As part of the training program by the National Forest Agency and the Environmental Information and Education Center, 10 forest rangers and taxonomists, who were re-trained, are employed on the project. Fieldwork will be completed by the end of September. Total cost of the project is 605,000 GEL.

"In order to ensure the continuity of the inventory work, 62 young people with forestry education were re-trained by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture in 2019-2024, and have been employed in forest inventory work across the country. As of today, inventory work has been completed on an area of 870,000 hectares; data has been updated for 50% of the area managed by the National Forestry Agency", - said Kakha Tsertsvadze.

In 2025, inventory work will be carried out on areas under the agency`s management in Guria, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, and Kakheti, covering a total area of 127,000 hectares, with a budget of 1.55 million GEL.
