Prime Minister of Georgia inspects landslide prevention works on road at entrance to Oni

Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia together with Revaz Sokhadze, Minister of Infrastructure of Georgia inspected the ongoing landslide prevention works on the national road of state importance at the entrance to the city of Oni.

Within the framework of the project, restoration of the landslide-affected section and construction of a protective retaining wall required for the safe operation of the road are underway.

Alongside the ongoing works, a temporary bypass road has been arranged to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow and an asphalt surface has been laid on the route. The temporary road enables local residents and visitors to the region to travel without disruption during the construction period.

"Important works are being carried out on the Oni road section, where there was a rockfall problem and road rehabilitation was required. The Ministry of Infrastructure ensured the construction of an alternative road within a very short timeframe, which is already being used by the residents of Oni, the people of Racha and visitors to the region. At the same time, reinforcement works on the main road section are continuing in parallel. Very important measures are being implemented to prevent rockfalls and similar processes in the future", - said Irakli Kobakhidze.

Upon completion of the landslide prevention works, the damaged section of the road at the entrance to the city of Oni will be fully restored.
