Tbilisi mayoral candidate from "Lelo" and "Gakharia for Georgia", Irakli Kupradze, promises that, if elected, he will schedule "sanctioned protest rallies" every evening on Rustaveli. He also says that 40,000 civil servants will be free.
"I promise you that as the oppositionist, pro-Western mayor of Tbilisi, I will do everything I can to answer the Russian government, the Russian city hall, without fear. This does not apply to employees who competently perform their jobs… Let`s imagine that from October 5, the oppositionist, pro-Western mayor schedules a sanctioned rally every evening, I will schedule a sanctioned rally to gain that support, and 40,000 civil servants will be free", - said Irakli Kupradze.
"If we woke up in Tbilisi, where Kupradze is mayor and the opposition commands a majority in the city council, and they are in despair, wouldn`t we wake up in a different Georgia? Kupradze would come out the next day and say, "Go organise strikes, fight, imagine municipal services going on strike.
Let`s make some assumptions. We`re not here just to curse. You have been cursing me for so long, right? I`ll say it again: whoever curses me, come forward and tell me if they have done more than I have. If anyone has done more, I salute this", - added Aleko Elisashvili, vice-mayorial candidate.
