The Merab Kostava Memorial House-Museum has been rehabilitated - renovated building was ceremonially opened by Prime Minister and Mayor of Tbilisi.

The museum preserves Merab Kostava`s personal belongings, memorial furniture, library, manuscripts, and unique documentary materials related to participants of the national movement: a photo archive of the national liberation movement of the second half of the 20th century, letters, underground publications, and other rare artifacts.

As a result of the rehabilitation, the museum`s area has been significantly expanded, and since May 2025, intensive work has been underway to arrange a new exhibition that meets modern standards.

The museum has been equipped with the latest technology and equipment, allowing for a better presentation of Merab Kostava`s life, activities, and his role in Georgia`s modern history. In addition, a modern educational space and storage facility meeting international standards have been created, ensuring the proper preservation of more than 20,000 exhibits housed in the museum.

"The situation was very difficult, the building was in disrepair, the yard was untidy. I am very glad that we were able to improve the mentioned space, completely rehabilitate and renew it. Last year, we completed the rehabilitation and strengthening works of the building. In addition, we had to buy out the adjacent premises, which were privately owned, so that the space would be larger. After that, improvement works were carried out and today you can see how everything is in order", - said Kakha Kaladze.
