Under the initiative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth, an anti-drug campaign "Me in the Future" will be launched in schools, aiming to prevent the use of psychoactive substances among adolescents and promote a healthy lifestyle.

Minister of Internal Affairs Geka Geladze, together with Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Givi Mikanadze, presented the project of a new anti-drug campaign to the school community.

The Minister focused on the importance of the project and noted that creating a healthy and safe environment for the future generation is the top priority of the government.

In the first stage of the campaign, by the end of the year, community officers and psychologists of the school resource officers service, social workers and trainer-resource officers will jointly hold information meetings with 6th and 9th grade students in 60 public schools across Georgia on the harmful effects of psychoactive substances, prevention of their use and encouragement of a healthy lifestyle among adolescents. In addition to the mentioned, information meetings, a comic book competition, sports events and other educational activities are planned.

It is notable that in order to conduct an anti-drug campaign in schools, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and school resource officers service of educational institutions have prepared an updated module for meetings with students, worked in coordination on the practical component and conducted simulation meetings. The meetings at the first stage will be held in Tbilisi, Adjara and Kvemo Kartli regions. The campaign is supported by the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.
