Amid the confrontation and internal party crisis, whether Mikheil Saakashvili plans to abolish the position of Chairman in the United National Movement, Tina Bokuchava suggests that the convicted ex-president is leaning precisely toward this decision, which, in her assessment, is a violation of the law.

Yesterday, Saakashvili announced the creation of a temporary governance and reform council, which he will head himself, while Nanuka Zhorzholiani will serve as the executive secretary.

This governance model is incomprehensible to some of the party members; they have questions regarding the council members, who, by Saakashvili’s decision, are to include new faces. The UNM convention will be held at the end of July.

"In six months, both internal primaries and internal elections will be held within this party, and this is a six-month cycle to prepare for this process. And yes, we will conscientiously pass this democratic test. Of course, this might be unacceptable to some, but for me personally, fighting for a position within the party is unacceptable. Although the door is open, this competition might be some type of problem for someone. This is not about who feels hurt or who is not against it", - said Lasha Parulava, a member of the political council of the UNM.
