The Tbilisi City Court fully accepted the evidence presented by the Prosecutor’s Office and found two individuals guilty of joining a foreign terrorist organization and aiding terrorist activities.

The evidence examined at the trial confirmed that one foreign citizen and one Georgian citizen joined the terrorist organization “Islamic State”, swore an oath of allegiance to its leader and were ready to carry out any task in order to assist in terrorist activities.

As a result of the investigative actions carried out, items with the symbols of the terrorist organization were seized, along with other evidence. The defendants were charged under Article 328 of the Criminal Code (membership in a foreign terrorist organization and assistance in terrorist activities).

The Tbilisi City Court found both defendants guilty of the charges and sentenced them to 11 years in prison each.
