In Kiev Court of Appeal leaves Georgian military in pre-trial detention

Lt. Col. Giorgi Tsertsvadze was left by the Appeal Court of Kyiv in pre-trial detention. The decision was recently announced which was followed by a protest in the courtroom.

The Board of Judges explained their decision  by the fact that the first instance court sent the relevant documentation with a delay to the Court of Appeal.

Today the Court of Appeal has considered the decision of the first instance court, according to which Giorgi Tsertsvadze was sentenced to a 40-day pre-trial detention.

The Georgian soldiers who fought in Abkhazia and 2008 wars against Russia, was arrested at the request of Russia. Gia Tsertsvadze was arrested on January 15 in Ukraine .

Tsertsvadze is wanted by Russia for crimes committed in 2003. The International Search for him on December 23, 2016, 13 years after the alleged crime.
