"Our priority is extradition, so that criminal proceedings are carried out on the territory of Georgia" - Tea Tsulukiani

Members of the government make statements about the extradition of Mikheil Saakashvili. Minister of Justice Tea Tsulukiani said that the Georgian side applied to Ukraine several times to demand extradition of the third president of Georgia. According to her, the extradition is a priority for Georgia.

"When we came to power, we officially applied to the Chief Prosecutor`s Office of Ukraine with a request to extradite Saakashvili, but they refused to do so twice. Our priority is extradition, so that criminal proceedings are carried out on the territory of Georgia. That`s why we have been sending extradition requests, but always received official refusal, " - Tea Tsulukiani said.

According to Vice Prime Minister Alexander Jejelava, the President of Ukraine and the Minister of Justice confirmed that the request for extradition of Mikheil Saakashvili was sent from Georgia to Ukraine twice, which was rejected.

"The Ukrainian side should make a decision based on the evidence presented. As President Poroshenko said and the Minister of Justice confirmed the requests had been sent twice, and we have received a negative answer to accept this request, "-said Alexander Jejelava.
