Referendum in Spain - hundreds of people injured in confrontation in Catalonia

According to the latest data, 865 people were injured in a clash between law enforcers and local population. Out of these 12 are policemen as the local government reports. As it is known, a referendum was held in Spain, where most voters in Catalonia voted for independence from Spain.

Police and Special Forces withdrew people from several polling stations by force. Rubber bullets and batons were used against the population. Law enforcers managed to block 319 out of 2 300 polling stations. Due to the current situation, voting lasted until late last night.

The Catalan government has assessed police actions as use of excessive force, while, according to official Madrid , law enforcers acted professionally..
