It was a very sad experience, and it’s a very sad day for our country – Donald Trump

Donald Trump admitted being booked into the infamous Fulton County jail was “a terrible experience”, and complained that the jail officials “insisted” he have a mugshot taken, writes dailymail.co.uk.

The 77-year-old made history by becoming the first former president to pose for a mugshot after his arrest for trying to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia - and he shared the image on X, the platform formally known as Twitter.

As he flew home to New Jersey on Thursday, Trump called Newsmax host Greg Kelly and complained about the day’s events.

“A terrible experience. I came in, I was treated very nicely. But it is what it is. I took a mugshot. I had never heard the word mugshot. They didn’t teach me that at the Wharton School of Finance… They insisted on a mugshot and I agreed to do that. This is the only time I’ve ever taken a mugshot. It is not a comfortable feeling - especially when you’ve done nothing wrong”, - said Trump.

He told Fox and Newsmax the booking was part of “election interference”: “It was a very sad experience, and it’s a very sad day for our country”.

Trump’s pre-reported height of 6-feet 3-inches and weight of 215lbs were recorded as part of the booking process. He was given a prisoner identification number: P01135809. He was then released on payment of 10% of his USD 200,000 bail, having spent less than 20 minutes inside the infamous facility. He told Newsmax host Greg Kelly it was “an experience I never thought I’d have to go through”, but added it was his fourth time.
