An open confrontation has erupted within the United National Movement [UNM], marking a new stage in the redistribution of influence inside the party.

Shortly after the current Chairperson, Tina Bokuchava, learned yesterday [June 17] about a plan to replace her, Nanuka Zhorzholiani began holding meetings with local party organizations.

Bokuchava is openly defying the directives sent from prison, labeling them “impulsive and inconsistent”.

Meanwhile, Mikheil Saakashvili is attempting to present a completely different reality on social media.

“At my request, Nanuka is already meeting with party organizations; this is a true constellation of veterans and the new generation. Tika Bokuchava, of course, remains in the party as one of its leaders, bringing immense experience and great potential”, - writes Mikheil Saakashvili on his Facebook page.
