What happens within the “National Movement” is none of my business - Nika Gvaramia

Nika Gvaramia, co-leader of the “Coalition for Change”, said that he has no desire to comment on the ongoing internal crisis within the “United National Movement” [UNM].

“What happens inside the UNM none of my business. The party where these events are unfolding should be the one reflecting on its own internal developments”, - Nika Gvaramia remarked.

The internal rift in the UNM deepened as Mikheil Saakashvili announced that, at his request, Nanuka Zhorzholiani has already launched a tour of meetings with local party branches. While Saakashvili asserts that Tina Bokuchava will remain in the party, his abrupt decision and the ensuing power struggle have triggered an overt confrontation among party members.

UNM member Levan Bezhashvili spoke out on the party’s institutional crisis, calling for a radical overhaul. He noted that bypassing internal elections to directly appoint a chairperson was a fundamental mistake - the very mechanism by which Tina Bokuchava originally secured the leadership post.
