We are launching one of the largest-scale expansion and development projects for the Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli International Airport, which is another significant result of the consistent policy of the Georgian government. The Prime Minister of Georgia said this at the event marking the launch of the Tbilisi International Airport expansion project.
"Today we are launching one of the largest-scale expansion and development projects for the Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli International Airport, which is another significant result of the consistent policy of the Georgian government.
In accordance with the agreement signed between the state and "TAV Georgia", which fully protects the interests of the state, the investor will invest more than USD 150 million in the project, which will significantly increase the capacity of Georgia`s main international airport.
Tbilisi International Airport is one of Georgia`s most important strategic infrastructure facilities, which plays a key role in terms of our country`s economic development, connectivity, tourist, and investment attractiveness.
Modern and efficient infrastructure increases the country`s competitiveness, promotes the creation of new jobs, and strengthens Georgia`s position in the regional and global transport system.
That is why our government pays special attention to the implementation of such large-scale projects. Upon the completion of the project, the annual capacity of Tbilisi International Airport will increase to 10 million passengers.
Our priority is not only the development of infrastructure, but also the creation of a modern, comfortable environment for passengers that meets international standards", - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
