"The conflict in Georgia" - the consolidated report of the Secretary-General Thorbjorn Jagland was discussed at the meeting of the Council of Europe Deputy Ministers Committee.

The report, which covers the period from April to September 2016, said that the Council would continue to monitor the commitments of Russia and Georgia, which are related to the results of the 2008 war.

Jagland drew attention to the difficult situation with human rights in the occupied territories.

In this regard the Georgian delegation as well as the European Union and the Council of Europe member states` delegations expressed their concern .

"The Secretary-General focused on the situation with human rights in the occupied territories and urged the Russian Federation to comply with the 2008 ceasefire agreement," - said First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Davit Zalkaliani.
