" If there is a pre-condition, which indicates any threat of life or probability of torture , we will refuse to extradite him,"- Evgeny Onin on Gia Taertsvadze"s case


Evgeny Onin, a Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine claims that there are some legal leverages to avoid Gia Tsertsvadze"s extradition to Russia.

He has made a statement in an interview with Rustavi2.
According to him, Gia Tsertsvadze can ask for political asylum in Ukraine.

"At this point I have no information that Russia has sent an extradition request. According to International conventions they have for 40 days. At this point I do not have information, "- he said.

" As for the contact between Russian and Georgian special services, it is difficult to comment on this. This is beyond our control. It is essential for Ukraine to follow international obligations. If there is a pre-condition, which indicates any threat of life probability of torture , we will refuse to extradite him,"- said Onin.
