Three-day mourning announced in Russia - death toll of St. Petersburg terrorist act reached 11

According to recent data, 11 people were killed and 45 people were injured as a result of a terrorist attack in St. Petersburg. Contradictory information about the suspect is spread in the Russian media.

Gazeta.ru, citing an anonymous source close to the investigation, reported that authorities have identified the alleged bomber as a Kyrgyzstan native with Russian citizenship and "close to international terrorist organisations."

A bearded man who appeared on Internet footage and who Russian television stations initially claimed was the suspected attacker turned himself into the police, saying he was innocent, after seeing himself on television. Interfax news agency reported that the man has since been eliminated from inquiries.

The three-day mourning was announced in Russia.A second bomb, disguised as a fire extinguisher, was late reported to have been found at the Ploshchad Vosstanaya metro station, which serves the mainline railway station that connects St Petersburg with Moscow.
Vladimir Putin laid flowers at the Tekhnologichesky Institute station late on Monday night. Petersburg act was condemned by Donald Trump. German Chancellor Angela Merkel, European Union and UN Secretary General Federica Mogherini have expressed their condolences to Russia.
