Due to COVID-19 Georgia to co-host EuroBasket tournament in 2022 instead of 2021

Georgia will co-host the 2021 edition of EuroBasket, a major continental competition involving 32 teams from Europe, in summer of 2022, an update of International Basketball Federation calendar has revealed.

The news was made public following a meeting of the European governing body’s Executive Committee via video conference to discuss necessary amendments to its calendar of tournaments due to the ongoing coronavirus.

Senior and youth competitions have been moved to different time slots, with next year’s EuroBasket moved to September 1-18, 2022. Georgia is co-hosting the competition’s 41st edition with Italy, Germany and Czech Republic.
