According to the President of Georgia, she will pardon Lazare Grigoriadis, who was arrested on charges of harming the health of police officers and destroying state property during the March protests.

Salome Zourabichvili made the relevant statement in an interview with TV Pirveli.

“I made the decision to pardon Lazare Grigoriadis this morning at 10 o’clock. I didn’t wait for anyone to call, so no one can earn any points. I felt in my conscience that it was wrong to sentence this young man to nine years.

I haven’t signed it yet, the procedures are ahead, but I made the decision together with myself, without any expressed opinion”, - said the President.

The court found 21-year-old Lazare Grigoriadis, who was arrested on charges of harming the health of police officers and destroying state property during the March protests, guilty today. He was sentenced to 9 years of imprisonment.
