The Poti City Court fully accepted the evidence presented by the Prosecutor’s Office and found the defendant guilty of the illegal purchase, storage and illegal importation of a particularly large amount of narcotics into Georgia.
The evidence examined during the trial confirmed that the defendant, while abroad, illegally purchased and stored a particularly large amount of the narcotic drug "Tilidine", which he illegally imported into Georgia through the "Ports of Poti and Kulevi and the Poti Free Industrial Zone" customs checkpoint. The aforementioned narcotic drug was removed from the defendant`s travel bag by law enforcement officers.
The accused was charged under Article 260, Part 3, Subparagraph "a" of the Criminal Code of Georgia (illegal purchase and storage of narcotic drugs in an especially large amount) and Article 262, Part 4, Subparagraph "a" (illegal importation of narcotic drugs into Georgia in an especially large amount)
The court found the defendant guilty of the charges and sentenced him to 16 years in prison.
