Prime Minister of Georgia introduced the newly-appointed Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Givi Mikanadze, to the ministry’s staff. Irakli Kobakhidze highlighted his extensive experience in the fields of education and science, and wished him success in his new role.

“Givi Mikanadze has vast experience, particularly in the education sector. He has worked as a lecturer and educator in higher education institutions and is the author of numerous publications in the field of law. He has been closely involved with matters related to the upcoming reform of the education system. He also served for a considerable period as Rector of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) Academy. He has valuable managerial and leadership experience, as well as experience in political affairs. He is an exceptionally conscientious person and possesses all the qualities required of a minister-especially in a ministry that deals with such important topics as children, youth and the future generations of our country”, - said the Head of Government.

During the meeting with ministry staff, he once again emphasized the importance of fundamentally reforming the general and higher education systems: “Our ambitious goal is the qualitative and fundamental reform of the higher education system. At present, the system does not meet the requirements of university-level education in the 21st century. Fundamental change is necessary, and I believe these reforms can be carried out in the medium term. There are also many challenges in general education that likewise demand serious reforms”.

The newly-appointed Minister of Education, Science and Youth expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister of Georgia for the trust placed in him: “I would like to sincerely thank the Prime Minister. This is a great honor and, at the same time, an immense responsibility to our country and society. It is a privilege to serve as the minister of a line ministry that is dedicated to shaping, developing and ensuring the wellbeing of our future-the youth and the generations to come”.

The outgoing Minister, Aleksandre Tsuladze, thanked the ministry’s staff and wished Givi Mikanadze success in his new position.
