The Prosecutor`s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara has arrested a lawyer for allegedly influencing a victim.

The investigation conducted by the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor`s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara revealed that the lawyer of the accused in the case of forced sexual intercourse with a minor, in order to obtain a lesser sentence for his client, suggested to the victim's friend and mother that the victim change the information provided during the interrogation and provide incorrect facts to the investigation, and in return promised money and other material benefits.

The detainee was charged under Article 372, Part 2 (inflicting harm on a victim) of the Criminal Code, which provides for up to 6 years of imprisonment as a form and measure of punishment. The Prosecutor`s Office has already petitioned the court to impose a preventive measure on the defendant.
