As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out by the representatives of the Investigation Service of Ministry of Finance of Georgia, a case of carrying out entrepreneurial activities without the relevant permit was uncovered in the city of Batumi.

One person has been detained, while criminal prosecution has been initiated in absentia against another individual.

As a result of the conducted operative-searching and investigative activities, it was determined that the accused persons had covertly set up an online gambling facility, from where gambling and games of chance taking place on websites of foreign online casinos were broadcast via the Internet in the form of live streaming, without the relevant permit.

Had the facility operated legally, a license fee of GEL 100,000 would have been paid to the State Budget. At this stage, intensive investigative activities are underway to identify other individuals involved in the aforementioned criminal activity.

The investigation is underway under Subparagraph "a", Part 2 of Article 192 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment for a term of 3 to 5 years.
